A trainee teacher is someone who’s training to become a teacher with support from a teacher training provider. There are various paths trainee teachers can take to achieve Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
The term ‘Early Career Teacher’ or ECT refers to a brand new teacher who has completed their training and is now part of a two-year induction programme.
Better Bilingual is an experienced provider of expert training and coaching for Trainee Teachers and ECTs – equipping them with a deeper understanding of ‘EAL’ and teaching strategies for the multilingual classroom.
- “Catherine Brennan delivered an excellent lecture to our trainee teachers about EAL. She is not only very knowledgeable about teaching and supporting children with English as an additional language but has an engaging and informative style. She leads sessions with tremendous warmth and passion for her area of expertise and we will be definitely be asking her to return in future years.”
Ben Wiggins – Senior Lecturer in Primary and Early Years Education, UWE Bristol (Feb 2022) - “Catherine answered my call out for EAL specialists who could join our secondary PGCE residential at the University of Buckingham over half-term. Her planning was thoughtful and considered how to differentiate in the classroom but also how to ensure that EAL children feel included, develop a sense of belonging in a different culture and celebrate their backgrounds. The feedback from those who attended was positive on the practical strategies she shared.”
